๐ŸŽฎ Games

The games section is a collection of playable tools: 2048, coin flips, dice rolls, sudoku, word games and text-based diversions. Each page explains how the game works, the strategy patterns that matter, and where the ideas come from. The tools are deterministic where it matters, random where the game calls for it, and every page makes clear what the tool does and does not promise. No accounts, no downloads, no tracking: the games run entirely in your browser. Use them to pass the time, to test a strategy, or to settle a trivial disagreement with a fair coin flip. The games are intentionally lightweight, load in seconds and work offline after the first visit, which makes them handy on a commute or a slow connection.

Method and definitions follow McGuire, Tugemann and Civario, There is no 16-Clue Sudoku, arXiv:1201.0749.

The outcomes assume the rules described on the page; random draws are fair by construction but are not reproducible unless a seed is shown.

Worked example. Inputs: two tiles of 4 sliding together in one move. Result: a single tile of 8, and that pair cannot merge again in the same move.

Limits and assumptions. The random parts of these games, the dice, the coin and the tile spawn, are not audited for fairness, so a stated probability does not guarantee any single outcome.

Illustrative examples. Every figure was calculated with the tools linked at the foot of each scenario, using the formula each tool documents, so the numbers can be reproduced. They are not client results and they are not advice.

Twenty coin flips and the run of heads

Twenty fair flips have an expected ten heads, with a standard deviation of about 2.24. The chance of all twenty landing heads is one in 1,048,576, and a run of ten identical results is rare enough to notice but not evidence that the coin is biased.

The merges a 2048 tile needs

Reaching the 2048 tile requires 2^10 - 1 = 1023 merges, because each merge doubles one tile and a tile of value 2^n is built from 2^(n-1) - 1 merges of the base tile. The 4x4 board holds sixteen tiles at once, so the whole descending chain must stay ordered on the board while those merges accumulate.
